ESTONIA MISSION TRIP
March 12-22, 2009
On Thursday, a team of 14 from Northwest will be leaving to serve at English Camp in Estonia for ten days! Follow along on their trip by reading their daily updates featuring what’s going on, team members thoughts, pictures and prayer requests!

God is truly amazing! It is always hard to sum up in a brief statement all that God has done in our lives and in the lives of the students at English Camp. We can say that God was there! We saw God at work in the hearts and lives of students as we watched walls being broken down by the love of Christ and Word of God.

Today is a free day where we get to explore Tallinn, the beautiful capital city of Estonia. Although, we’ll be taking in the sites, resting and enjoying time together…much more will be going on. Today we start to decompress and allow the awe and splendor of what our Lord has done on this trip to sink in.

I came to Estonia expecting to leave with some new friends. As we're leaving I cannot comprehend how far God exceeded my expectations. I'm not leaving new friends behind, but loved ones. These students touched my heart in such a way that I am coming back to Columbus a changed and broken man.

Folks, words fall drastically short of conveying how honored I feel, and what a privilege it was to have been included in this trip to Estonia. I was able to see God bring the 14 of us together to form a group that was single-minded in our dedication to Him and to serving 69 of the most wonderful young people I've ever met. We prayed for open, receptive hearts. God delivered.

It is so hard to believe that camp is already over. Today we said goodbye to the students, and it's hard to put into the words the changes that took place within a few short days. They went from teenagers that we knew God loved, to priceless individuals that swept into our hearts and that we now truly love.

Day three of camp! Wow! Where do I begin? This is my fourth year going to English Camp, but every year seems to be more exciting than the last. Today was the day that the Good News about Jesus Christ was presented to the students. In the words of one of the students in my discussion group, Erki, "the gospel was presented in one of the clearest forms I have ever heard."

What an action-packed day it has been so far! We started with "Good Morning Sunshine" a time for leaders and students (who want to attend) to spend some time singing praise and worship then listen to Pastor Tom open up God's word. This is a great time for us as leaders to be encouraged and be reminded of the reason we are here and the amazing God we serve. It was awesome to see how many of the students chose to attend this event as the majority of the students here at camp aren't Christians. Praise the Lord!!!

Today has been an awesome day. Today was the day all the students came to camp. I'm sure you've already read about how much the Northwest team went through just getting here, which just makes it all the more awesome seeing the students arrive on time and as excited to be here as we are. Many of the campers speak English very well, but it's taken a little bit of time for many of them to warm up to us. Estonians are much more reserved and quiet than we're used to in the U.S.

This morning we had the opportunity to worship at Risttee Church with many of the Estonia team. Though the the language was a hinderance in hearing and understanding everything that was going on, the basics were still the same—Worshipping the Lord and allowing the Spirit to speak into our lives. What a blessing it was to be here worshipping with our Estonian brothers and sisters!

Dear Church family,
This is the first update from Estonia! It has been so exciting to see how God has been at work over the past couple weeks. It started with some passport issues and ended with some flight issues. In each instance, it was only God who can get the credit for everything.
