August 22 certainly turned out to be quite a day of celebration! Hundreds of Northwest Bible Church attenders and guests gathered outside for the “high point of the week” to glorify the Lord through worship, fellowship, and sharing in the baptisms of many in our congregation. It was a wonderful time to both celebrate the ministry God has blessed us with and to lift Him up with praise. This special Sunday morning service was unlike any we’ve ever had before…and one we won’t soon forget.
The outdoor backdrop not only provided a unique setting because of the change in scenery, but also because it permitted our entire church body to unite as one. What a blessing to worship our Lord all together! Although we are each well aware of the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in our own lives, it’s not often that we have the chance to hear the life-changing stories of others in our congregation. It was an incredible experience to listen to the transformations that took place in those who spoke—and to think that they represented only a sampling of our whole church body.
Celebration Sunday was not only a time for worship, but it also allowed us the rare occasion to sit down as a family and break bread together (or share some barbecue in this instance). Just as Hebrews 10:25 implores us to “not give up meeting together” and to “encourage one another…”, this special experience gave us the opportunity for genuine fellowship. It never ceases to amaze us how our bond in Christ automatically connects us as brothers and sisters!
Finally, the morning concluded with the baptisms of over seventy of our very own. To see that many men, women, and children stepping out in obedience to signify their faith in Christ was unforgettable. The outward showing of their inward change was definitely something to celebrate! We love our church family and are so extremely grateful for the unity and bond that we have as believers. What a wonderful day for Northwest!
