EC09 Field Update: Day 5

Day three of camp! Wow! Where do I begin? This is my fourth year going to English Camp, but every year seems to be more exciting than the last. Today was the day that the Good News about Jesus Christ was presented to the students. In the words of one of the students in my discussion group, Erki, "the gospel was presented in one of the clearest forms I have ever heard." The speaker, Cory DiCarro, one of Northwest's finest, was our speaker for the week and did a fabulous job.

It is a big thing to be complimented by an Estonian because they are very honest people. They will tell you if you did a good job, but will also tell you if you didn't. Cory talked from the Biblical story of the woman caught in adultery. He gave his testimony and talked about how Jesus forgave the woman, and how he can do the same for all of us. Cory invited the students to think about how God can change their lives and to respond to this message. He told the students that he would meet with them afterwards if they wanted to talk more about this decision. So far three students have talked to him, and one has accepted Christ. This is a testament to the power of God because Estonians don't often respond to anything this quickly. They are a people who think very deeply about the decisions they make. This is due in large part to the distrust that has built up in Estonia after centuries of being occupied by other countries.

The decisions tonight also speak loudly of the awesome ministry and work being done over here in Estonia. The ministry is led by Craig Hamer and Chris Brock, two former Northwest members who are full-time missionaries over here. I'm excited to see what else God will do in the remaining time we have to serve here. We have a half day more of camp tomorrow, and then we will have the opportunity to meet up with students again at a youth event run by the team hear in Estonia. God has done amazing things here in previous years and continues to amaze and surprise.

Praise God,

Todd
