When Jesus came to the earth in a physical body to carry out His ministry in the first century, He came to minister to a very specific group of people. Jesus identified them in Luke 4:18 as the poor, the brokenhearted, the captives, the blind, and the bruised.

Since Jesus' ministry to the world is now being carried out through us, the spiritual "body of Christ," it would stand to reason that Christ's target for ministry would not be any different in the 21st century than it was in the first.
