Our objective as the Worship Ministry of Northwest is to be led by the Holy Spirit, bringing glory to God in worship, growing in our relationship with Him, and experiencing His reviving presence, as we supernaturally impact our community, nation, and world.
Worship Arts Ministry in Depth
About Us
Members of the choir and orchestra are our church’s “worship leaders.” We believe that God has a specific purpose for each person’s life and the gifts that He has given you. Ephesians, chapter four says that God has redeemed us and gifted us to serve within the body of Christ. What could be more fun and rewarding than fulfilling the purpose that God has set you apart to do?
In the Old Testament, God would “set-apart” musicians to lead in the temple worship. God is still “setting apart” people today and gifting them to serve in His church.
Passion for Worship
The most important part of the Worship Ministry at Northwest is our passion for worship. Our heart’s desire is to draw nearer to God and to lead others to do this. Music has such a huge impact in the overall worship experience. It is an expressive, transparent, heartfelt way to express exactly what our hearts want to say to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our audience of one!
A Servant’s Heart
We can never know the full joy of Jesus Christ until we give ourselves away serving others, just as Christ gave himself on the cross for you and me. We serve others throughWorship Arts. Jesus said whoever desires to be first must become last!
Purpose
We help people improve their relationship with God and each other by freely expressing our hearts to God and committing ourselves to leading our church into times of celebration and intimate worship through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. When we worship, the glory of God is brought forth in us, and there is great power in our worship. Three amazing things take place when we worship together.
God is honored, blessed, pleased, and adored.
There is a mightier spirit in our worship that is a great weapon in spiritual warfare.
The lost world will witness our joy and triumph and will be drawn to Jesus Christ.
This is why we worship, and this is why we must worship together.
Vision
We strive to be a thoroughly biblical worship ministry that passionately seeks God’s manifested presence and leadership. Our goal is to provide the means through music to draw our congregation and ourselves closer to the Lord. God has created each of us to worship and bring glory to Him. We each have been created, commanded, and called to worship God. It is the very core of our life and our reason for existence!
Consistency
1 Corinthians 15:58 …stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
We want to be a ministry that is faithful to the Lord and consistent in everything we do. In our lives, in our attendance, in the quality of our presentations, and most importantly in the worship times we lead.
Encouragement
Our ministry is to encourage one another and build each other up in the Lord, as described in 1 Thessalonians 5:11–15 .
We can encourage each other in many ways. As we lead worship together, sometimes we need encouragement just to make it through the day. The Bible says that we are to encourage one another in “growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Encouragement involves praying for and building each other up as it says in 1 Thessalonians. We believe that every “living sacrifice” offered by the believer is an act of worship, and every time any group of believers sings and plays music about God in spirit and in truth it is an act of worship and praise. Our aim is to set our hearts, minds, and spirits fully and passionately on Jesus Christ our Lord. Our desire then is that the congregation is drawn with us into an encounter with the living God.
The Worship Ministry at Northwest Bible Church is not about performance…it is about worship. It’s about passion and family. It’s about eternal significance, a heart for God, and servanthood.
Talent is not as important as spiritual attitude, character, and faithfulness. Our choir and orchestra stands before the congregation as a well prepared, unified group of believers, coming together both humbly and boldly into God’s presence, realizing that every word that enthrones Jesus as Lord defeats our enemy Satan. When we sing and play, it’s not to impress, but to inspire. Our audience is not the congregation. The joint audience of the choir, orchestra, and congregation is the Lord Himself.
Personal Worship
One of the goals of our Worship Ministry is growth in personal worship through our prayer and praise time on Wednesday nights during choir and orchestra rehearsals. We believe that personal worship precedes corporate worship. We spend time each week at rehearsal in personal worship. We encourage a daily time of reading God’s word, praising Him for all He is, thanking Him for what He’s done, praying for your needs and the needs of other choir and orchestra members. This is a very important part of your walk with the Lord and your role as a spirit filled worship leader.
Commitment to Excellence
The definition of excellence is “utilizing our God given talents to glorify the Lord.” This is what we are committed to do. While we are not after perfection, we are to be totally committed to glorifying the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. Why would we want to bring anything less before God than the very best we can do? This commitment will affect the way we rehearse, lead, serve, love and live! As members of the Worship Arts Ministry, we are committed to Holy Spirit led excellence in praise and worship!
