Malawi Mission Trip 2025: God’s Love in Action

Our Malawi mission team had an incredible two weeks in Africa this summer (July 13–26), and we can’t stop praising God for everything He did through them.

Our team of six spent their time loving on kids, sharing the Gospel, and serving alongside our incredible ministry partners at the Passion Center and Namikango Farm. From the moment they arrived for orientation at Mulunguzi Community Church—a church Northwest helped plant and fund years ago—to their final goodbyes, every day was filled with meaningful ministry and deep connections.

Highlights from Their Journey

VBS at Hope Community Church was a major highlight. As a new church plant, this was the biggest event they had ever hosted, and our team got to be part of something truly special. Watching people raise their hands during prayer, saying they want Jesus as their Savior—that’s what missions is all about.

The Passion Center’s 20th Anniversary Celebration brought joy and games, including epic water balloon tosses that had everyone laughing (including Programs Manager Steven, who got especially excited about winning). The team also visited the Chikondi Home infant rescue center, currently caring for 12 babies, and spent time with kids in the Early Childhood Development program that helps prepare children ages 2–6 for primary school.

Cultural immersion was just as meaningful as the ministry work. The team learned to cook traditional Malawian meals in village settings, navigated local markets, and experienced daily life alongside their Malawian friends. At Namikango Farm, they saw bananas that Northwest’s 2023 mission team had planted, now thriving and producing fruit—a beautiful picture of how God grows the seeds we plant.

Pure Religion in Action

James 1:27 tells us that “Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” Our team lived this out every single day, whether they were cuddling babies, teaching kids about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, sharing testimonies with women’s groups, or simply showing Christ’s love through play and presence.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support that made this trip possible. When we serve “the least of these,” we get to see God’s heart in the most beautiful way. Our team returned changed, and the ripple effects of their ministry will continue long after they’ve come home.
