Spy U VBS 2026

Spy U is officially a wrap. From June 15 to 19, the building turned into a training ground and our kids reported for duty as cadets on one assignment: figuring out who God really is. If your cadet was here, you already know it was loud, and you already know they had a blast. Here’s the recap, plus a look at what they learned and where their giving went.

What your kids learned this week

Every game and every station pointed the same direction. Here’s what your cadet spent the week working on, in case you want to keep the conversation going at home.

  • Real vs. counterfeit. Kids learned to spot the fake “gods” that promise everything and come up empty, and to keep their eyes on the one true God.
  • One God, three Persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A mystery, and a picture of love and relationship all at once.
  • Becoming God’s child. Not something you earn. Something you receive, by grace, because of Jesus.
  • Who God is. Faithful, loving, holy, powerful, and near.
  • God is personal. He isn’t distant or hard to reach. He knows your kid by name, and He moved toward them first.

Where the giving went

The cadets had a real assignment beyond the games: raising money for kids who need it. By Friday, they’d brought in $8,697.92 together.

That giving all goes to Forgotten Children Worldwide, which cares for orphans and vulnerable children who’ve been abandoned or are living in danger or deep poverty. The organization protects kids from poverty and trafficking, helps them build stable, self-sustaining futures, and introduces them to God. What started as clothing distribution now includes food, medical and dental care, orphan homes, and child sponsorships.

Here’s one way to picture what $8,697.92 can do. A gift that size is roughly enough to:

  • Clothe 100 children
  • Cover medical and dental care for 80 more
  • Provide a daily meal for around 900 kids in places like Nepal and India

And a lot of that was earned, not just dropped in a bucket. Lemonade stands, extra chores, saved-up allowance. Parents and grandparents pitched in too, but plenty of these cadets worked for what they gave.

Thank you

None of this happens without the people who ran it. Thank you to Barb and the whole VBS team, the group leaders, the station crews, and every volunteer who showed up early and stayed late. You gave these kids a week they won’t forget, and you pointed them to Jesus while you did it.
