What Is the Gospel?

A lot of people have talked to me about their relationship with God... their spiritual condition. Everyone I’ve ever talked to knows they need something—to go to church, to do some kind of good deed, to stop doing some bad deeds.

Everyone has admitted to needing some kind of a spiritual upgrade.

Here’s the thing. You don’t need a spiritual upgrade. I don’t need a spiritual upgrade... we need a complete rescue.

I’m not talking about adding a little bit of Jesus to your already busy life to simply make life better. I’m talking about recognizing your sin and running to a Savior—because the truth is, we’re all sinners by nature.

The Problem: We’re Sinners by Nature

And I’m not just talking about mistakes. I’m not talking about bad habits. I’m talking about the deep-down condition of every human heart—yours and mine. We sin because we’re sinners. Apart from God, that’s who we are.

And if we’re honest, we all know that something’s wrong. You feel it in the guilt you carry. The shame you try to hide. The way you chase fulfillment but always come up empty. That’s not just life being hard—that’s the effect of sin.

The Bible says this: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Our sin is the opposite of God’s righteousness. Our sin separates us infinitely from God—and it leaves us in danger of eternal judgment.

“For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

That’s heavy. That’s real.

The Solution: God’s Rescue Plan

But listen—God, in His mercy, didn’t leave us there.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

God sent His Son—Jesus—to step into our mess. To live a perfect life that we couldn’t. To die the death that we deserved. To pay, in full, the debt we could never afford.

He didn’t wait for you to clean up.

He didn’t ask you to earn it.

While we were still in rebellion, He came for us.

And that payment wasn’t partial. It wasn’t symbolic. It was complete.

Scripture says, “He who knew no sin became sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Where People Get It Wrong

And here’s where so many people get it wrong.

They believe Jesus died... but they’re still trying to earn God’s approval. Still hoping their good outweighs their bad.

But Titus 3:5 makes it crystal clear: “He saved us—not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy...” (Titus 3:5)

You can’t save yourself.

Your good deeds can’t outweigh your sin. All our righteousness—it’s filthy rags compared to the holiness of God.

The Heart of the Gospel

All of what I’ve said leads us to a verse of Scripture that you might know:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

That’s the heart of the Gospel. That if you put your faith—not in yourself, not in religion, not in trying harder—but in Jesus and His sacrifice for your sin... you can be forgiven. You can be redeemed. You can be made new.

This Changes Everything

This isn’t a nice story. It’s not spiritual self-help. It’s a new direction. A complete surrender. And yes—it’s a lot to take in. It’s okay if you have questions.

But if you feel that pull, that nudge, that stirring deep inside—that’s not me talking. That’s the Spirit of God inviting you.

So don’t wait. Don’t brush this off.

We’d love to sit down with you and open a Bible. Not to pressure you—but to help you see clearly who Jesus is, what He’s done, and what it means to follow Him.

Because this isn’t just a belief system. It’s the truth that changes everything.

Let’s talk.
