“MISSIONS” is a very misunderstood word.

Typically, when we hear the word “missions” we tend to think about crossing large bodies of salt water. We think of far distant lands. We think of people in a different culture, a different nation—who speak a different language. Three words we don’t typically associate with “missions,” however, are “HERE”…“ME”…and “NOW.” In reality, to remove those three words from our concept of “missions” is to miss the point! So, just what is “missions?”

We were testing the kids eyes today and a little boy couldn’t read the eye chart. Absolutely nothing. We thought maybe he didn’t know his letters so we showed him the picture eye chart. Nope—he couldn’t see anything on that eye chart either. So, Jamele W. reached into the bag of eyeglasses, grabbed a pair, and put them on him. Day two was an all-around good day! We got to spend another day with these precious kids and it was super productive for our different projects. There are people here from churches in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Ohio, totaling 55 volunteers. Because of the larger number of volunteers, the projects are coming along quickly and some will be completed at the end of the week.
